Mr. Show: the fictional band
Start with the season-one opening episode, “The Cry of a Hungry Baby.” The name existed in sketch comedy before it became a recording project. Only the cameo is needed; a free official clip was not verified.
A listening, viewing & mild confusion guide
A band. A desert. A briefcase.
A very questionable government agency.
Follow Puscifer from a comedy-show cameo to Normal Isn’t — through the records, films and recurring faces that make the music a world of its own.
Enter the rabbit hole
00 / Orientation
Puscifer’s creative core is Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell and Carina Round. The songs, theatrical concerts, animations and comedy belong to the same playground. The band’s own era-by-era credits show how many collaborators pass through it.
The lore is deliberately elastic: Billy D’s misadventures, a suspicious agency and a new goth cast overlap without a single tidy timeline. This guide follows release order, with prequels and reposts identified. The short descriptions are listening prompts and story signposts, not a claim that every image has one official meaning.
Start with the 23 essentials if you want a manageable route before the show. Add the rest as curiosity takes over.
