The early archive has gaps: 1950–1969 entries have historical sources, 1970–1980 link to season films. From 1981, individual race highlights are preferred; unavailable highlights are labelled with an alternative. F1 TV access depends on your account and region.

CURATION & PROVENANCE
A viewing guide, with a paper trail.
This is a curated route through the history, not a ranking of every race. Championship clinchers and deciders provide the spine; celebrated races, technical changes and consequential controversies supply the detours. The modern era receives more space. Results are spoilers by default; “Hide race outcomes” lets you reveal race stories individually.
Documentaries and screen stories are placed by the period covered, rather than their release date. A career retrospective may reveal later events. Portraits are reference photographs and may have been taken years after the introduction shown here. Film and drama results are not historical race results.
Selection sources, archive limitations & image credits
Race selections draw on Formula 1’s greatest-races and championship-showdown retrospectives, the F1 TV archive and documentary catalog, and official race results. Each race’s notes link to its result and a historical account with further references. Selected rulings have an additional primary source.
The public archive lists no individual race footage before 1970. A season-review link is not a claim that every selected early race appears in that film. Three later selections offer a full replay where individual F1 TV highlights were not listed; Spa 2021 has a race recap because there was no green-flag racing. Links were matched to the public catalog, not tested through subscriber playback.
F1 TV artwork is credited to Formula 1 / F1 TV; rights remain with its owners. Driver portraits come from Wikimedia Commons with the creator and licence recorded beside each image. The portrait notes link to the original file and licence. This is an independent fan guide, unaffiliated with Formula 1 or F1 TV.
